The Practice

The dining room is where the house earns its keep.

We work with homeowners and restaurateurs who understand that a dining room isn't furnished — it's composed. Grain direction, pendant height, the weight of a linen napkin: everything is considered, nothing is accidental.

Project 01

The Hampstead Breakfast Room

Hampstead, London · 2024

I. The Brief

Oliver and Priya had extended their Victorian terrace but left the rear extension unfinished for two years, unsure how to resolve the junction between period house and contemporary addition. They wanted a breakfast room that worked for two young children at 7am and looked right for dinner with friends at 8pm — the same table, the same chairs, two entirely different rooms.

Project 02

The Notting Hill Dining Room

Notting Hill, London · 2024

I. The Brief

The Mackenzies had bought a five-storey Georgian townhouse in need of full restoration. The dining room — a first-floor formal room with original cornicing and a marble fireplace — had been divided in the 1970s to create a study. Their brief was unambiguous: restore the proportions, make it seat eight comfortably, and make it the room that earns every dinner party. Budget was not a constraint; only quality.

II. Material Selections
Lacquered Sage
Walls, de Gournay chalk paint, 3 coats
Calacatta Marble
Fireplace surround, book-matched
Dark Walnut
Dining table, bespoke, 2.8m

Project 03

The Mayfair Private Dining Salon

Mayfair, London · 2025

I. The Brief

Thomas Vance had acquired a ground-floor Mayfair flat with the specific intention of converting it into a private dining venue for twelve — a room that could host corporate entertaining on Tuesday and a birthday dinner for fourteen on Saturday. The brief was exacting: the room needed to feel residential, not commercial; intimate, not event-space. The food should be the star. The room should be the memory.
